A circular economy is a systemic approach to economic development designed to benefit businesses, society, and the environment. In contrast to the 'take-make-waste' linear model, a circular economy is regenerative by design and aims to gradually decouple growth from the consumption of finite resources. After defining what an economy actually is, this learning path explores the nuances of the concept of a circular economy, including the difference between biological and technical materials, the different opportunities that exist to keep materials and products in use, and the history of the idea. Beverley Bernstone Pender

Born in the UK, Beverley has spent most of her years in South Africa, writing, studying, and wrangling with the written word for magazine and book publishers. She has worked on topics ranging from banking to winemaking; fashion to fast cars, leadership to business schools, Drakensberg trails to Table Mountain explorers, for both large and boutique-style publishers. Beverley took an unexpected detour between two stints at university and found herself as a cabin attendant in international first class for SAA for three years. She is in her fourth decade as a freelance wordsmith, and, despite an ever-growing range of interests, remains most passionate about Jesus, aviation, avid reading and animals.

Relationship Banking focused on client satisfaction, Credit initiation, product inclusion, Marketing, and Sales.
Mandatory retirement 31/10/2019 at age 60.
Currently freelance Business Assistance and coaching across all arenas (including Credit sourcing and initiation, product inclusion, financial analysis, sales, coaching etc.)

"Don't give up on us" by David Soul was number single in the UK, whilst across the Atlantic Ocean, it was Leo Sayer "I feel like dancing" topping the charts in the USA. In the south west most corner of Africa, in Cape Town, a son was born to the land, he's name Mvikeli Zwelethu and he would grow up to be a dreamer.
Bought up in his formative years by missionary grand parents, he would grow up pretty much shielded from the horrors that were going on in South Africa at the time.
Privileged to have parents who were educated in the UK, HE has a life changing experience 1 November morning in 1981 at the (then) Ben schoeman airport, East London where he did see a plane.
Majestic, noisy, it was the Largest object he's 4year old eyes had laid on and with wings it did fly.
Little did the young man know this moment would define every decision he made from that time on til he's solo flight in September of 2001....., Yes, all of us who were in aviation will remember that morning for the rest of our careers.
I was blessed (through shear determination, sacrifice and some luck) that I made it to South African Airways Cadet Pilot group 9. The odds of making it were 1 in 500 they told.
Many stories and achievements i could write about, but (of many) that comes to mind is a story that happened in July of 2018, when an American air traffic controllers used the words "South Africa Airforce One, this is New York Center, good morning Sir", Yes, that was Me he was talking to, on Our way to Toronto, Canada, taking the President of the Republic to attend the G20.
This 16hour flight from Cape Town would prove to be a "one of a kind" SAA did do between the city pairs, however a historic flight would be the return Toronto to Johannesburg leg, at 13345km, it would the longest (ground) distance commercial flight done by SAA.
In August of 2020, I did fold My wings, albeit for a short time.
Nowadays, I own a farm just 30km outside East London. I breed pigs, chickens, geese and pit bulls.
My dream is to teach those in My community about the wealth and resources found in the land and the management of the waste.
From food to water, SA is rich in natural resources which are mismanaged and are rapidly diminishing.
I plan to take the produce from My farm and truck it to Lesotho and Swaziland, in turn "barter" with them for their livestock.
This livestock I plan to abattoir, process, package for export together with packaged crops.
